Metals & Minerals

Coltan

S&K Mining is one of the Congolese world’s leading industrial producers and marketers of cobalt, a metal expected to become one of the most important raw materials in the transition towards a low-carbon economy in today’s changing context of contemporary business environment sustainability and ethical dilemma due to its use in rechargeable batteries and renewable energy technologies.

Cobalt

Cobalt is a metal that is crucial for the production of various technological devices, particularly lithium-ion batteries used in electric vehicles, smartphones, laptops, and other electronic gadgets. The cobalt content in a product depends on its intended use and the specific materials and components used in its manufacturing.

Pure-Gold

The term "pure gold" typically refers to gold that is in its elemental form with no other metals mixed in. Gold is a chemical element with the symbol Au and atomic number 79. It is a dense, soft, malleable, and ductile metal with a bright yellow color. In its purest form, gold is often referred to as "24-karat gold."

Gold purity is commonly measured in karats (or carats in some regions), with 24 karats being the highest purity. The karat system is based on a scale of 24, where 24 karats represents pure gold. The purity of gold is expressed as a fraction of 24, so 18 karat gold is 18/24 or 75% gold, and so on.

Diamond

In the world of precious gems, diamonds stand as timeless symbols of elegance and enduring beauty. At SK Mining, our Diamond Services epitomize the art of responsible extraction, precision craftsmanship, and ethical trading. In this exploration, we unveil the journey of diamonds from mine to market, showcasing how SK Mining contributes to the allure of these captivating gems.

Manganese

Lithium is a chemical element with the symbol Li and atomic number 3. It is a highly reactive alkali metal and is known for its use in batteries, particularly lithium-ion batteries, which are widely used in electronic devices, electric vehicles, and renewable energy storage.

The lithium content in a battery is measured in terms of the mass of lithium within the battery. Lithium-ion batteries typically consist of a cathode, an anode, and an electrolyte. The cathode material often contains lithium, and during the discharge and recharge cycles of the battery, lithium ions move between the cathode and the anode, facilitating the flow of electrical energy.

Copper

S&K Mining is one of the paradigm of radical changes of the new narrative of the world’s leading Congolese cultural producers and marketers of the copper.

We extract and process copper ore in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. We recycle copper scrap. In addition, we smelt and refine copper. We supply a wide range of customers from the automotive, electronics and construction sectors.

Copper was the first metal ever used by humankind and today, it finds various applications in everyday life and in industry.

As a major by-product of copper production, we are one of the world’s largest Congolese cultural producers of cobalt , primarily from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
